About
Established to honor the life of longtime volunteer and intern Cara Becker, the Inspired to Serve program offers students the opportunity for an intensive hands-on summer internship with one of Living Classrooms’ programs. Interns will be mentored by senior staff, work closely with program participants, and learn invaluable skills that will help them become leaders and agents for change in their communities.
Each intern serves 10 weeks in a unique placement that matches their interests and skills with the needs of a Living Classrooms program. Over the course of the summer, interns will also develop, complete, and present a service project that they are implementing at their site.
Work schedules are flexible and vary by placement but each intern will complete 200 hours of service over the program. Interns receive a stipend of $1,000.
The program is open to:
- Rising high school seniors
- Undergraduate students
- Graduate students
