Birthright is a confidential pregnancy service and volunteers will be assisting women in unplanned pregnancies and providing free pregnancy testing, maternity clothing, doctor referrals, and baby clothes and some diapers after baby is born. We offer love, friendship and support to women who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant. Keep in mind that we do not refer for abortion. This would be a hands-on opportunity for students to learn how a social service non-profit works. However, our office is completely confidential. If a past client is seen on campus or elsewhere, there can be no interaction unless the client agrees. Also, volunteers must commit to a 2 hour time slot per week, be dependable and willing to learn about community services available. We refer to many sources in the community, including doctors, Food Net, Housing, Legal, Professional Counseling, Parenting classes, Childcare, Adoption and more. The volunteer would be trained where current resources are, and encouraged to find new resources as they become available.
