Lincoln Regional Center-Whitehall Campus

About

Lincoln Regional Center assists clients with re-entrance to society as a whole person. Lincoln Regional Center provides specialized psychiatric inpatient and support services as an essential part of Nebraska's mental health system; assists patients in moving toward mental health and self-sufficiency, through the efforts of qualified and dedicated staff members; and uses its resources as well as those of community to meet the unique needs of each patient. Specifically, volunteers will work with persons, ages 12 and over, suffering or recovering from a mental illness. While serving at Lincoln Regional Center, you'll have the opportunity to supervise small groups of residents in arts and crafts, music, and foreign languages; mentor and teach social and life skills; companion volunteer; become a Therapeutic Recreation Assistant; assist with classes; speak foreign languages; and provide administrative assistance. Volunteers are needed 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. This is an excellent opportunity for Psychology, Sociology, Family Consumer Science, and Education majors. A regular schedule will be set based on your availability. Semester commitments and internships are both available. Training (a base orientation) is required.
