Our class went to Union College to help set up all the supplies for Sunday's Safe Quarters event. I enjoyed being a part of a quick and efficient team that was able to complete a large amount of work in a relatively short time period.
I went to the Southpointe mall with 2 other Pepsi Scholars: Jack and Jenna. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon so there weren't many people to donate, but the 3 of us enjoyed getting to know each other and still made a little money for Matt Talbot, so it definitely was not a wasted afternoon.
I was able to spend a few hours outside Supersaver asking people to donate for Matt Talbot Kitchen- there were quite a few people out there because it was game day, and a good portion of them were willing to donate, often because they had heard of Matt Talbot and knew "It's a good organization". It was cool to see the good reputation the outreach has in the city. I also got to meet a nice older lady who volunteered with me- her name was Diane and she took a good picture of us on her phone but forgot to send it to me, so I just have the blurry one that I took.
